Delete your Giraffe account

This is the fastest route, and it is immediate. Nothing to ask us for, nothing to wait for.

Open Giraffe in your browser and go to Settings → Account, then choose Delete account. It works in any browser; the mobile app is not required.

Because it cannot be undone, deleting asks for two things at once: a code we email to your account address, and the word DELETE typed out. The typed word is there so a mis-click cannot do it; the emailed code is there so someone who got hold of your open browser cannot either.

Email support@withgiraffe.com from the address on the account, with “Delete my account” as the subject. Or use the support form and choose “My account or my data”.

We reply to every request. We will confirm you control the account address before deleting anything. A request on its own is not enough, because otherwise anyone who knew your address could end your account.

Every project, every fact, decision, open question and note in it, every Document and every version of one, the whole history, every connection to an AI assistant, and the sign-in account itself. The live record goes immediately.

Nothing of it is kept for advertising, profiling or training, because none of it was ever used for those. See the privacy policy.

One thing is not instant. A copy of the database is taken once a day and each copy is kept for about a week before it is destroyed. So for up to about a week after you delete, rows that were yours still exist inside a backup nobody reads and nothing queries. After that window passes, the last copy is gone.

Records we are required to keep for legal or accounting reasons, a payment record for instance, are kept for as long as the law requires and no longer.

Uninstalling Giraffe from a phone removes the app and the copy of your projects cached on that device. It does not delete the account. Use one of the two routes above for that.
